The Many Worlds of Diane Mullen

Spring Coronation 2008

I wanted a couple of new pictures of John and I in garb, so I took my camera with us to Spring Coronation 2008. The photos of anything other than us (and the candles) was taken at long distance, with the maximum zoom capable on my little camera - so they're a little grainy. Sorry!

Candles on the table in our camp (just 'cause I thought they looked cool)

Our kings and queens reign for a six month period. At the end of their reign, it is customary for there to be some sort of play-acting to remove them from the throne - previous reigns have ended in assassination, abdication, or just a stepping down. During the schtick ending the reign of Thorstenn and Zepherina, the Queen pretended to have grown irritated with the king. When he was called away to battle a foe, she celebrated and pretended to take a couple of young concubines - I just wanted to make it clear that this was PRETEND only! There was absolutely nothing untoward going on with these boys whatsoever - this was playacting. I thought I should put in this disclaimer, in case anyone had any thoughts regarding the Queen's Concubines. btw, the reign ended with the King dying of wounds gained in battle with his foe, and the Queen being stabbed by her ladies-in-waiting who would not let her put these boys on the dead king's throne.
