Movies,
TV and Music
OK, I watch far too much television. As you might expect, my favorites are sci-fi/fantasy.
Anyway, here's a list of the shows I like, past and present, in no particular order (this is by no means a complete list):
Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next
Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Enterprise
Quantum Leap, and MacGyver
Sliders, Babylon 5, and Highlander: The Series
Mad About You, and Dharma &
Greg
Lois & Clark
Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and Xena:
the Warrior Princess
Roswell, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Charmed
Remington Steele, Bonanza, Kung Fu
Smallville, Gilmore Girls, 24 and Everwood, The 4400, Dead Zone
Boston Legal, Desparate Housewives, Lost, Prison Break, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate Universe and Battlestar Galactica
Chuck, Bones, Dollhouse, Castle ... I'm sure I'll be adding more!

I go to see movies as often as possible, but that usually means about once every two or
three months. So, I tend to be very picky about which movies I see in the theater. Any
that aren't at the top of my list have to wait until it comes out on video. Here's a list
of my favorites:
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings, The Two Towers and The Return of the King
-- truly awesome flicks!!!! I do have the extended version DVDs (of course)
Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The
Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, and (of course) Star Wars: The Phantom
Menace, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
All of the Star Trek movies (except Star Trek V: The Final Frontier) I do want to make special mention of the new Star Trek movie - it is awesome!! See my Star Trek page on that.
The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, and The Scorpion King
The Mask of Zorro
City of Angels (although I'm not sure why I like it - in general, I don't like Nicholas Cage.) But then, I also like the National treasure movies.
Dirty Dancing
The Saint
Blade
Sleepless in Seattle, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Reign of Fire
Stargate
James Bond movies
Galaxy Quest - an absolutely
hilarious movie!
Jurassic Park (and sequels)
The Highlander movies
lots of old musicals, including (but not limited to) The King and I, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, West Side Story, Oklahoma, and Show Boat.
The X-Men movies
John really likes John Wayne movies (his favorite is The Quiet Man) and I enjoy watching them too (I'm a sucker for old westerns)

Music is a very important part of my life. I listen to music almost constantly (when
I'm not watching TV or movies!). I play piano (not as well as I'd like to, or as well as I
should, I just can't seem to find the time to practice), I've started trying to learn the guitar, I sing and I love to dance. So,
here's my choices for favorite music:
I love show tunes. I haven't seen a lot of shows on stage, but I have seen a couple and
I've also seen the movie versions of a quite a few. Show tunes are always great to listen
to and great to sing.
In general, my favorite type of music is rock & roll. There are songs dating from
the fifties on that I think are great. I do include the seventies and disco in this
generality. I do like some country, but not a lot -- I can't stand the twangy or
nasely sounding country, but a lot of today's country sounds like the rock ballads from
the 60s. I do not like hard rock, heavy metal, acid rock or rap. Of course, to almost
everything there are exceptions . . .
My favorite artist of all time is John Denver. You can't dance to his songs (except
some slow songs) and he sings in a key that is really bad for me, but his songs always
have something to say. And I love the way he sang them - he was always so sincere and
excited and energetic. He put everything he had into every song. I was very sad when he
died.
I also like Queen, The Eagles, the BeeGees, the Backstreet Boys (gods help me), Ricky
Martin, Enrique Iglasias, Savage Garden, 98 degrees, Survivor, Gloria Estefan, Christina
Aguilara, Loreena McKennitt, Bob Seger, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Sugarland, Lady Antebellum . . . and others that I can't think of at the moment.
Also, there's a whole host of songs that are SCA related - either old, medieval songs that have been revived, new songs written in the style of the traditional songs, or songs sung about the SCA and the game. I've got several CDs of these songs now, thanks to the bards of Trimaris and a friend here in Endewearde.
